Last Friday, the María Trinidad Murillo Olivares Primary School lived a different morning: for a few moments, the school yard became a space where music was not only heard, but built among all.
Fundación Música que Humaniza (FMH) presented the program The Treasure of the Great, played by the metal quintet Toxic Brass, with the artistic mediation of Fernando Guajardo.
From the beginning, the music of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Bizet, Offenbach and Rossini opened a door to curiosity. But the concert went beyond listening: little by little, the students began to be actively involved in what was happening in front of them.
They learned some elements of the musical notation, approached new words in German and discovered details about the composers. However, the most significant moment occurred when they were no longer public.
Through singing, palms and guided participation, students joined the concert until they became part of it. For a moment, the stage stopped being only at the front: the music began to emerge also from the group, from every child who followed the pulse, who responded, who dared to participate.
Thus, the "treasure" of the program became evident not as something distant or exclusive to the great composers, but as a shared experience. During those 40 to 45 minutes, the students not only knew the music of the great: they also discovered that they themselves could be part of it.

Because sometimes, a single moment is enough to change the way someone is related to music: to stop seeing it as something else and start living it as something of their own.
